Ruins of Taruk
Taruk is one of the oldest civilizations known to exist anywhere on Navan, existing now only as mysterious ruins. Very little is known for sure about Taruk or it’s inhabitants, although many archaeological expeditions have been conducted, most financed by Talmud Shanto, which have shed much light on the city’s history.
Taruk was a very religious society, and contains the earliest known evidence for the practice of human sacrifice. The city is estimated to have housed about 1 million people and contained over 1,000 temples or shrines around the city, with one large central temple. Little is known of the people or the specific dieties they worshipped, or what happened to them.
The society vanished, and scholars disagree as to why. The oldest literature (from cultures all existing much later than Taruk) all references a cataclysmic flood event. However, no geological evidence has been found for such a flood.
